Pronouns are used frequently by you. Pronouns are actually used even by people who are oblivious to their existence; in fact, we have already used pronouns four times in this sentence alone.

When your reader or listener already knows which nouns you're referring to, you can replace them with pronouns. For instance, you could say, "I possess a dog. He has white and brown hair." You already mentioned your dog in the first sentence, so there's no need to explicitly state that you're describing him in the second. However, saying "brown and white" after "I have a dog" is grammatically incorrect. Instead, you use the pronoun "he's" to make the phrase "brown and white" into a complete sentence.
